jobs
Park Watchdog. We sometimes have openings for park watchdogs. Watchdogs work Saturdays or Sundays for approximately 3 to 4 hours (mid-day usually) per shift. You may be able, if you wish, to not work every weekend, but to just work one or two weekends per month. Pay: $10 to $12 per hour. Duties: monitor the people and dogs in the Lake Bow Wow area of the park (and go to other areas of the park if needed) to make sure that dogs and their owners are behaving appropriately and following park rules. Counsel park users on appropriate behavior in such a way that no offense is taken. Requirements: Great people skills, good knowledge of dog behavior including dog/dog interactions. Please note: you would not be able to have your dog with you while on the job. To apply email us explaining why you think you would be good for this job. Please attach a resume.
Free Membership in Exchange for Volunteering
at the Park. We offer volunteer positions in exchange
for membership at the park for those who cannot afford membership
fees.
Volunteers work either 2 hours
once a week (cleaning jobs, mostly outdoors) or 4 hours every
other week (mostly indoor work). All volunteer work must be performed
during our office hours (3pm - 7pm weekdays, 10am-6pm weekends).
Those who do outdoor work may bring a dog with them, but only
if the dog is the type who sticks with the owner all the time.
Those doing indoor jobs may not bring a dog to work.
The outdoor
jobs (mostly filling bag stations, taking garbage bags to the
dumpster, picking up trash and sticks, cleaning fountains and
water dishes, general cleaning, etc.) must be done during a
2-hour shift on the same day each week, although the hours are
up to the volunteer just so long as they are during our office
hours. Those who do the every other week 4-hours shifts on weekends
will work noon to 4pm every other Saturday or every other Sunday. To apply
for a volunteer position, you will need to stop by the park during
our office hours and fill out an application.
